Spiritual flow can mean a variety of different things depending on who you are and how you intend to use it in your life. From using spiritual flow to induce creativity to utilizing spiritual flow to improve your moods and mental health, a state of spiritual flow has the power to lift you up and bring joy and balance into your life. However, sometimes getting there is the hardest part of all.
Finding a spiritual flow is about being centered in your consciousness. It means knowing the central self of your identity and giving it the space to grow and develop is a large part of it. Those are all things that can feel daunting if you don’t already have techniques to introduce them in place. Here are a few techniques you can use to bring that juicy spiritual flow state into your life.
1. Do Yoga
Moving your body is a great way to introduce a state of spiritual flow. Yoga takes it one step forward. Yoga introduces the mind-body connection into a movement practice, which brings another layer to simply working out. It combines movement, breath and mindfulness into one continuous practice, which helps to center the mind, body and spirit. Whether you’re a novice or a long-time yogi, try a session to bring on a spiritual flow state.
2. Spend Time In Nature
We are connected to nature. Humans are just as much a part of the earth as any other animal or plant. But sometimes, it can be easy to forget that in this modern world with so many technological features. Spending time in nature and getting back to your roots can be extremely spiritual if you open yourself up. Try going on a nature walk or simply meditating outside.
3. Unplug
Finding the time and space to unplug is a great way to get into a spiritual flow. Staring at screens and constantly being tuned into your messages and emails doesn’t leave much room for listening to yourself and your body — and of course, your spirit. Many people have spoken recently about the importance of social media breaks, and you can try one out — in addition to trying out larger phone and technology breaks to help you center back to yourself.
4. Meditate
Meditation is the ultimate state of peace, quiet and spiritual connection. Whether you’re a meditation veteran or you simply want to test it out, trying a meditation practice is a fantastic way to introduce a spiritual flow state into your life. Meditating is about opening yourself up both to the universe and to your own internal sense of peace — both of which are extremely important to spiritual flow. You can meditate for an hour in the wilderness, or you can squeeze five minutes in before you head out for your daily commute — both are highly valuable to your spiritual life.
5. Practice Self Care
Self care is at the very core of your spiritual needs, just like a few other things. Whether you believe in the hierarchy of needs or not, it’s not hard to recognize that every being deserves care and to have their basic needs met — and that includes you. Make sure that you’re regularly checking in with yourself to meet your needs. Take some time out to give yourself additional self care, too. Being overworked, undernourished and other things of that nature can all contribute to dragging you down spiritually. You can circumvent that by practicing self care regularly.
6. Nourish Yourself
Speaking of nourishment, that can be a technique in itself. Finding a spiritual flow is so much easier when you feel good in your body — and that includes feeling full, feeling hydrated and being fully nourished with fruits, vegetables, vitamins and minerals. Of course, everything in moderation, but nourishing yourself should be among your top priorities both physically and spiritually.
7. Journal
Journaling is all about connecting to your internal emotions and releasing them — working through them so you can see through the fog of your mind and look at them in a new light. When you journal, you connect to yourself and look to build mental awareness, which is highly important when searching for spiritual flow. Whether you work from prompts or free write to your heart’s content, journaling can be an extremely powerful spiritual tool.
