Why You Should Take an Emotional Intelligence Quiz

Five Components of Emotional Intelligence 

According to psychologist Daniel Goleman, who wrote extensively about emotional intelligence, there are five main components of EQ.

  1. Self-regulation: If you are good at self-regulation, you know how and when to express your emotions. You also know how to express your feelings appropriately. The skills associated with self-regulation include flexibility, the ability to manage conflict and diffuse difficult situations. People who can self-regulate know how they influence other people and take responsibility for their actions. 
  1. Self-awareness: This is the ability to identify, acknowledge and understand your own emotions. It also includes recognizing the effect of your emotions, moods and actions on others. People with self-awareness are open to learning from new information, experiences and interactions with other people. They know their strengths and limitations, how people perceive them and are confident in themselves and their abilities.  
  1. Empathy: This is the ability to see things from other people’s points of view and to understand their feelings and why they are experiencing certain emotions. People with empathy understand how power dynamics affect relationships and the feelings and actions of others. 
  2. Motivation:  People with motivation find inspiration within themselves to fulfill their goals. They set goals, are open to improvement and are committed to their plans. 
  3. Social skills: Good social skills are all the components put together. Understanding your emotions and those of others helps you navigate daily interactions with people. People with good social skills can actively listen and understand verbal and nonverbal communication. 

Why Should You Take an Emotional Intelligence Quiz?

While you may already have some of these skills in your EQ repertoire, taking an emotional intelligence quiz helps improve your EI and build emotional understanding and skills. 1. The Emotional Quotient Inventory 2.0 (EQ-i 2.0) 

The EQ-i 2.0 is based on leading researcher and psychologist Dr. Reuven Bar-On’s model of emotional-social intelligence. After 20 years of global research, he created an assessment tool to help people aged over 16 years to measure their EI. The online test has 133 statements related to emotional intelligence skills, which will take 20-30 minutes to complete. Once you have completed the assessment, you will get a report in the form of an inventory. 

The inventory includes 15 competencies related to the five areas of EI: self-perception, self-expression, interpersonal, stress management and decision-making. The results will show you the areas you excel in and how you can improve your emotional skills. You can also take the EQ-360, which requires people who know you well to participate and share their perceptions. 

2. The Queendom Emotional Intelligence Test

The Queendom EI Test has 341 questions, which will take  60-90 minutes to complete. You answer three types of questions: self-assessment, image-based and situational questions.
