Using the right products during the day or night will help maximize the effects of each product in your routine. During the day, your skincare should focus on protecting the skin from things like sun, dirt and pollution, while at night should focus on keeping it hydrated, treating acne and other skin problems.
Apply products at the right time of day can make them more effective since some skincare boost absorption and others prevent it. Here is your skincare routine night vs. day guide.
Step 1: Makeup Remover
If you wear makeup or a tinted moisturizer, you will want to remove it before you start anything else. Removing cosmetics from the skin can be just as complicated as removing them from your clothes at times. Cleansers alone aren’t strong enough to remove all of it. You will want the cleanest skin for proper cell turnover at night.
Step 2: Cleanse
Once all the makeup is removed, rinse the excess residue and oils with a cleanser. You will want a cleanser that is gentle and cleans your skin. It will get the leftover makeup, dust and bacteria off the skin, ready to absorb the products.
Step 3: Exfoliate (1-2 Times Per Week)
Exfoliating can be done in the morning or at night, depending on your habits and lifestyle. If you wear makeup, it helps lift any particulars left on the skin so that your products can do their job. It can help with acne and unclog pores. Acne can stall cell turnover, which can cause more skin and dirt to accumulate to get stuck.
Step 4: Apply Serums
To brighten your skin overnight, apply your serums to it can restore and regenerate. Retinal is an excellent option to help fight fine lines and aging. Be sure you only use it every other day to avoid skin irritation. Applying the thinnest to the thickest consistency is a general rule if you are using multiple serums.
Step 5: Moisturizer
Water is lost in the skin while we sleep, so you must apply a moisturizer. Apply it in a gentle circular motion to maximize the effects. It will help reduce puffiness, boost circulation and loosen up your facial muscles.
Step 6: Spot Treatment
You can apply a spot treatment if you have problem areas you want to target. Sometimes people make the mistake of using spot treatment throughout the day, which will irritate and dry out the skin. This could cause acne to worsen, so limit the number of times you use a spot treatment.
Step 1: Cleanse
Just because you haven’t moved from your bed all night doesn’t mean you should skip rinsing off in the morning. You can use a gentle cleanser to rinse germs accumulated from your pillowcase, hair or saliva.
Step 2: Serum
Once your skin is clean, you can add nutrient-dense treatments to the skin. Vitamin C in the daytime is an excellent choice since it improves the appearance of enlarged pores and uneven skin tones. It also helps with the skin’s response to damages from UV rays and environmental pollutants.
Step 3: Moisturizer
Throughout the day, your skin can lose moisture. It will hydrate your skin and seal each product so they can help protect your skin all day.
Step 4: Eye Cream
The skin around your eyes is the thinnest and most fragile, making it the first area to show aging. When you use eye cream, it makes it more elastic to prevent fine lines. Use your ring finger to dab and rub the product to ensure you aren’t pressing too hard on the area.
Step 5: Sunscreen
Sunscreen is an essential step in your daytime routine. It protects you from sunburn, skin cancer and premature aging. You should wear it on cloudy and cold days. You only don’t need it if the moon and stars are out. Be sure to reapply during the day.
