Self-love can be challenging on tough days at the office or in personal relationships. You can have self-confidence and still have days that you feel inadequate or insecure. It’s human nature. Incorporating self-love meditation practices into your daily or weekly routine can lower the chances of those negative thoughts and emotions taking control.

Meditation can center and align your chakras and make you feel ready to tackle any obstacle that comes your way.

How To Meditate and Focus Inward

Create a mantra that feels personal to you. Think of something that will resonate with your soul and trump any negative thought that creeps into your inner psyche. Remind yourself that you are worthy and enough.

Becoming self-aware is a part of self-love. By connecting with yourself, you can be present, reflect inward and reach an understanding of who you are and how you truly feel without the cloudiness of judgment.

Meditation For Beginners

Meditation is simply being fully present in the moment without looking forward into the future or backward into the past. If you’ve never meditated before, get comfortable and allow yourself to take a deep breath.

Relax your attention and focus on your breathing. Take notice as you inhale if your breaths are shallow or held, stressed or calm. Take another deep breath, through your nose this time and exhale slowly, allowing your mind and body to relax completely.

Meditation is truly that simple. In these moments of stillness, while you meditate, it can feel as if you are giving yourself a warm embrace. Repeat your mantra in moments of self-doubt and return to yourself.

Self-Love Meditation Technique

To practice self-love, you must remind yourself that negative self-criticizing thoughts are fleeting and don’t have power over you. Don’t give them that. Instead, try some self-love meditation practices and techniques to bring you back to your center and reinstate your self-worth. You are worthy and you are enough.

Embrace Yourself

Lie back and place your hands over your heart. Focus on how it feels to have your hands there. Your mind might wander and that’s completely normal. Come back to the present moment and breathe. Repeat your mantra. Breathe deeper. Inhale and exhale until you aren’t thinking about anything other than your breaths.

Recognize how your mind and body feel with each breath. Don’t force it or try to change anything. Rather, acknowledge those feelings and visualize letting them go with each breath. Imagine looking at yourself in the mirror and noticing how your reflection is feeling. Know that you can change those feelings.

Pour some love into your heart and let it radiate outward, still focusing on your breath. Focus on each body part and imagine the love reaching every inch of you from your head down to your toes. Allow it to wash over you, and stay in this gentle embrace for as long as you want or need to before you open your eyes.

Repeat your mantra to yourself as you come back to reality and know that your altered state of mind that you just came from is yours and you can revisit it anytime you want. You created that feeling, and you are in control. It is always there when you need it. No one can take that away from you.

Self-Love Benefits

Self-love can ease tension and anxiety caused by outside forces or self-criticism. It is common to feel resistance to self-love at first. Once you’ve practiced it, it will come more naturally to you. Self-love can bring your unconscious negative thoughts to light and help you change them. Self-love meditation practices can strengthen the connection between your body and your mind.

There is a fine line between self-confidence and arrogance. Self-love should conquer your self-doubt and negative feelings toward yourself, but it shouldn’t consume you and make you feel self-righteous.

There is no wrong way to meditate, but like all good things in life, there are ways you can abuse self-love. Self-love should humble you, make you want to root for yourself and permeate positivity. Cheer for others and yourself.
