Life can get busy, and then it can get really busy. Sometimes it doesn’t seem like there’s an end in sight for everything you have to get done. As soon as you check things off your to-do list, more pile on. When you’ve got so much to do and so little time to do it in, it’s all too easy to let other things slip by that don’t seem as important. Self care practices always seem to be put aside for later.Sometimes the key is to take a deep breath and put everything on pause. By reevaluating what’s important for you in your day to day life, you can find that magical middle ground where you can multitask without overly stressing. To help work some self care practices into your busy routine, check out these tips.
Drink Some Tea
It may not be in your best interest to skip that cup of coffee in the morning, but you can add another drink to your day that will help your body. Think about wandering the grocery store for a little bit longer next time to find a tea that interests you. Consider what you want that tea to help with. Drinking tea has many different benefits that might help you feel better in more ways than one.
Learn To Say No
When people are talking at you a million miles an hour from all different directions, it can be difficult to say no. Of course you’ll be at that meeting while making extra copies and mailing out invitations for your coworker. While it’s a good thing to care about helping others, sometimes you just need to help yourself by saying no. When you can, evaluate what your schedule looks like when it stresses you out the most, and start learning to say no to people when it gets to that point.
Connect With Loved Ones
Loneliness is something that everyone feels at some point in their life, but it can easily mask itself as something else, like stress. Take a moment to see if your stress may be related to loneliness by thinking about when the last time you had fun with friends or family was. It’s so important to spend time with loved ones because you get to relax and feel that personal connection that recharges your drive.
Schedule Some Breaks
If anything, try to work some breaks into your day. Your mind needs time to rest so you can focus better on both the task at hand and the tasks to come. Even if it’s just one ten minute break a day, your body will thank you. Spend that time zoning out on social media or reading your favorite book. You’ll return to what you were doing before with new energy that’ll help get you through your day.
Indulge Yourself Sometimes
It’s okay to sometimes have that moment of weakness where you buy a pizza and eat it in bed, or set the alarm a little later than normal just to sleep in. Be kind to yourself in these moments, because your mental and physical wellbeing are just as important as checking everything off your list at work. Have that soda or go out and get those nails done. You’ve worked hard and you deserve it. Self care practices come in more forms than just eating healthy and exercising. Some people can get those down perfectly and still feel like they’re missing something. Take some time soon to listen to your body and see what you need to de-stress and take care of your mental and physical well being. You’ll find that giving yourself even just that little bit of time will help you find your personal self care practices. Not everyone does self care the same way, but if you can find what makes your body feel better, you’ll see improvements in your life that you didn’t even know were possible.
