Determining Your Face Shape

Your face may not fit every piece of criteria for a specific description. Go with the shape that’s closest to your own.

To determine your face shape, you’ll need a mirror. Look at your face and figure out the widest part, whether you use a measuring tape or your eyes. If the widest point is your forehead, you likely have an oval face. Wide cheekbones could indicate a heart-shaped or round face. If your features have even proportions, you likely have a square face.

You should also look at your jaw shape. If your jaw is short or round, then your face is likely round. If your jaw is narrow and pointy, your face likely has a heart shape. If you have a sharp jaw, you likely have a square face.

If you’re not sure about your other features, look at the width of your face in comparison to its length. The length of your face is considered from the center of your hairline go the tip of your chin. The width of your face is from the center of your right profile to the same spot on your left.

A longer face than wide is a sign of a rectangle face, while a wider face is likely a square of diamond shape.
